New Boards Inaugurated for Six Ministries of Village of Hope
Village of Hope exists to glorify God by saving lives and serving humanity through childcare, healthcare, education, evangelism and nurturing souls for eternity with God. Many Christians have come together to pursue this mission since 1989 but it was not until 1996 that Village of Hope was officially born. With the growth of Village of Hope through the years, there was a major change in its structure in 2010 when the Board, with the approval of the Oversight Elders, reorganized the various departments and units of Village of Hope into separate ministries (organizations), each with its Board of Directors. The mission of Village of Hope is therefore realized through six ministries – Hope Children’s Village (Children’s Home), Hope Training Institute (Street Teenagers Ministry and Vocational School), Hope Christian Hospital (24- Hour Medical Facility), Hope Christian Academy (Pre-Kindergarten through 9th Grade Elementary School), Church of Christ School (Pre-Kindergarten through 9th Grade Elementary School), and Hope College (High School). In addition to these ministries, there is an evangelism, church planting and nurturing ministry as well as a farming project under the Group (Coordinating) Office.
The Oversight Elders approved a Corporate Governance Charter to ensure good corporate governance, accountability and the effective and efficient stewardship and management of all the ministries under the Village of Hope. The Charter clarifies the governance structure of the entire work and defines the roles of the various Boards and Management. According to the Charter, Boards for the ministries serve for a term of five years.
The last Boards completed their term last year and so on Saturday, February 2, 2019, six new Boards were inaugurated to serve for the next five years. Each Board will ensure the proper and effective administration of each ministry consistent with its mission, vision and fiduciary responsibilities.
